Thanksgiving Day Shopping

Has anyone noticed how we are gradually skipping over Thanksgiving Day and heading to Black Friday? What is wrong with this picture? As I posted in one of my Tweets, “only a turkey wants to skip Thanksgiving Day and head to Black Friday. That is completely understandable. But for everybody else, we need to slow down and enjoy our families and friends at the dinner table on Thanksgiving Day. That is just how I feel about it. I love a bargain, but I am not about to be trampled and pepper sprayed for a $199 laptop or $25 DVD player. That money cannot bury you. Stores should really stay closed until at least midnight.

Black Friday Deals or Steals

Business need to make money. If they do not make money they have to close and we all depend on each other to survive. I think we all understand that, nonetheless, there ought to be a day when if we say this is Thanksgiving Day we treat it as such. So, now we come to the Black Friday deals. I looked through the papers and on the website of the major chain stores. There were some amazing deals, but what they don’t tell you is that there are usually 10 to a store. If you are not 1-10 on line, I don’t think you’re getting anything. Walmart, Best Buy, Target, Sears, and Macy’s were the real big players in this Black Friday and they really came pretty good. The $199 32″ television at Best Buy was the best deal I saw. What consumers need to understand is that Black Friday is the day business aim to get out of the red and into the black. Consumers do the opposite; they get out of the black and go into the red. This will not stop because even in a year of recession and high unemployment Black Friday sales were up over $1.4 billion over 2010.

Cyber Monday is coming

Cyber Monday is getting bigger and bigger every year. That is the day when you sit at your computer, mouse in hand, and fingers ready to click as you see a good deal. This is Internet shopping and it is awesome. No crowds to push and pull you. You shop in the comfort of your living room because you were smart to take the day off. For those not so smart, you have to do it on your lunch time or after 5p.m. Either way, Cyber Monday will break records in 2011. Happy shopping.
