New York City and New Jersey Ready For Super Bowl XLVIII

Football is played during fall and winter yet people are wondering why is Super Bowl XLVIII being held in New York City. Well, football is a cold weather sport even though all the teams are not in cold weather states. Embrace the new and broaden your horizon. A little cold is good. Come! Furthermore, there is no place like New York City where you can have fun and be part of the Super Bowl spirit even if you do not have a lot of money to attend the expensive special events.

I was out yesterday getting photographs for my magazine and the city is definitely ready. I took a walk down Super Bowl Boulevard and despite the cold weather, preparations were in full swing. In Times Square, Fox Sports were busy setting up their broadcast booth and they had a good crowd looking on. Macy’s in Herald Square at 34th Street and Broadway (this is where Super Bowl Boulevard begins) is all decorated with life size NFL statues and on the 4th floor, it is all about the Super Bowl. This is where you get the official Super Bowl XLVIII gear, trading pins, posters and you will also have the opportunity to take your photo with celebrities.

This is New York City, this is the city that never sleeps, and as one sign on a football said, “SNOW, SLEET or HAIL MARY!” Yes, people of the world, come to New York City and New Jersey (yes, Met Life Stadium is in New Jersey) and enjoy the best Super Bowl ever. It is going to be epic and you want to be here.

Tim Tebow and the New York Jets

NYC Water Taxi - Way to go!

Everyone seems to agree that in the National Football League (NFL), business is business and the NY Jets releasing of Tim Tebow today was just business. That might very well be true, but there is a way to conduct business. Would any of these men i the Jets organization like an employer to treat their son like that?

When Tim Tebow came to New York last year, he was asked to appear at a press conference where neither Rex, Woody or any of Jets management was present. That should have been the first red flag. Then throughout the season, despite the terrible play by Sanchez, Tebow was never given a chance to play quarterback. To add insult to injury, the Jets waited until all the other teams had filled their rosters before releasing him. That was just wrong.

Tebow handled himself with class and the classless Jets ruined this young man’s career with an unceremonious dismissal. Where is he going to get a job now? Is he as terrible as everyone is making out. He took the Denver Broncos much further than where Peyton took them this season. That should count for something.
